What a New Office Needs — by Size
Up to 10 employees
A laptop per employee, an external monitor and dock at every desk, a business router and one access point, a single multifunction printer, and either a small NAS or cloud backup. Usually supplied and installed within a week.
10 to 50 employees
This needs planning: one standard desk build replicated across the team, a proper comms cabinet, several access points for full coverage, a departmental printer, and shared storage or a server. Decide warranty and refresh policy up front.
50 employees and up
Phased rollout, spare stock for failures, asset tracking with serial numbers, tiered network infrastructure, and a three-to-four year lifecycle plan.
Specification by Role
Office work
Office, browser, Zoom and email. A mid-tier laptop with 16GB RAM and a 512GB SSD, a 24-inch monitor and a dock. This fits most employees in most offices.
Finance and analytics
Heavy spreadsheets, ERP and reporting. Same machine with 32GB RAM, and ideally two monitors — the productivity gain from a second screen in these roles far outweighs its cost.
Development
32GB to 64GB RAM, a top-tier processor and fast SSD. Compilation, virtual machines and Docker consume memory long before they consume CPU.
Design and video
A dedicated GPU, a wide-gamut calibrated monitor, and fast storage for heavy media files. A MacBook Pro with Apple Silicon, or a Dell or Lenovo mobile workstation.
Sales and field
A light, durable laptop with all-day battery, cellular connectivity where needed, and a quality headset for calls. Less processing power, more mobility and reliability.
Management
A light, quiet machine with a good screen and camera for remote meetings, plus a permanent dock at the desk. Screen and audio quality matter more here than raw power.

Computers
Apple, Dell, Lenovo, HP, Asus, Microsoft Surface. Laptops, desktops and workstations — chosen by role, not by whatever is on offer.
Monitors and desks
Monitors in every size, stands, arms, and USB-C docking stations that connect a laptop to screen, network and power with one cable.
Peripherals
Keyboards and mice including Logitech, call headsets, webcams, cables and adapters. The small items that hold up a whole desk when missing.
Printing and scanning
Laser and multifunction printers matched to real print volume, including network setup, permissions and consumables supply.
Network
Business routers, switches, wireless access points and comms cabinets. Coverage planned from the floor plan, not guessed.
